Field of Senses / Holly Clarke
Velvet petals and lush foliage layered in colour and texture, scents drifting on a breeze. A garden by the ocean in full bloom, expansive, abundant, alive. A visceral experience. Layered earth pigments blend like overlapping blooms, immersive and textured. An invitation back to the senses.
Details:
Archival quality earth pigments on a raw cotton canvas. Framed in an oak tray frame.
This piece is on display in our Grey Lynn Showroom.Â
About The Artist:
Holly is an abstract eco-painter from New Zealand, whose work explores the energy of the mind and body through the language of nature. Using ethically sourced earth pigments, she creates sensorial mindscapes that invite a return to intuition, peace, and stillness.
With over thirty years as a designer across New Zealand and Florence — collaborating with a range of well-regarded brands — Holly brings a deep understanding of colour, form, and craft to everything she makes. But it was a quiet turning point in her 50s, a longing to slow down and work with her hands again, that led her to painting. A healing response to the relentless pace of corporate life, her practice was born from morning walks through silvery palms, from trusting whispers over deadlines, and from choosing a softer, more intuitive way of working.
The result is a body of work that feels like a breath. Each piece is an invitation to pause — to reconnect with your inner landscape and remember what it feels like to be truly present. For anyone navigating change, or simply craving sanctuary from the noise, Holly's paintings offer something rare: a calm, sensory space where softness becomes its own kind of strength.
